IRAKASLEAK: Hosting visiting youth

A great opportunity for learning Euskara is the possibility of hosting a Basque instructor from Europe.  We receive numerous inquiries from teachers there who are willing to come here for a time and in exchange for being hosted, they would teach Basque classes.  We don't know these folks personally, but we've had excellent luck in hosting people from the Basque country.  Contact the following directly for more information:

Hi,

My name is Maria Kaltzada and I teach Basque in the Basque Country.  For two summers in a row, I have been teaching some Basque classes in Chino, CA and I am so glad to say that it has been such a great experience that I would love to have the opportunity to do it again!

At the same time, I would like to say I am willing to host anyone who wants to practice Basque or learn more about Basque culture. Therefore, if you are interested in Basque classes or in visiting the Basque Country here is my email address:

Kaixo,

My name's Ander Egiluz, and I write you from Bilbao. I am a young basque journalist (I nowadays write for ARGIA magazine) that always have wanted to speak English properly. I was thinking on going to USA to work/live there for a while (a year or a couple of years); that's why I'm looking for job over there. As I am a native basque speaker, I talked to Jose Francisco Zinkunegi "Kinku", who I knew is in touch with all the Euskal Etxea in America, about working in America in some of the Basque Centres you have there, and he told me that in California you have some good ones.

That's why I'm writing to you. I would be really interested in working there with you while I could live in an english speaking atmosphere to improve my skills in this language. I am open to any kind of proposal from you. I send you my CV in basque and spanish, and if you want me to send you it in english i will do it (i still have not translated it into english).

So, I would like to go there after summer (in september-october) and work with you. If you know any instituion or centre around you that could be interested on someone like me (taking into account that I am journalist and photographer as well), I would thank you a lot if you pass me on the contact.

Eskerrik asko, and waiting for your reply!
