With support from the Kern County Basque Club, Steve and George have recently completed an extensive research project on early Basque settlement in the Bakersfield area entitled Basques in Kern County: 1870 to 1940.   Steve and George will give a presentation on their research and discoveries.  See also Steve Bass' Chronology of Basques

Christine Echeverria Bender
Christine has published three novels of historical fiction based on her extensive research of Basque voyagers to the New World: Challenge the Wind, Sails of Fortune, and her latest The Whaler’s ForgeWith family roots in the ancient seafaring town of Leketio (Bizkaia), Christine will give a presentation on the history of Basque whaling in North America and the interactions between Basques and Native Americans.
