DANTZAK:
Basque Folk Dances |
As part of NABO's mission
to promote Basque culture, there remains a consistent effort to promote
Basque folk dance because of its accessibility (it is open to most all
and relatively quick to learn) and aesthetics (it's flashy to present to
an audience). Below are some resources:
We
are now posting dance videos to YouTube as the "nabasqueo" channel; the
aim is to present dances that are closer to the original versions.

Depending on the standard, there are five hundred Basque dances. No
group covers all of them so each group's challenge is to decide where to
focus their time an energy. In addition to the website links
below, you can also acquire a set of a dozen videotapes (about twenty
hours) of Basque folk dance where you should get plenty of ideas. To get
your set contact Jesus Pedroarena
This material is presently being transformed into a digital format.
Need some equipment?
