BASQUES IN THE AMERICAS, 1492-1850
A CHRONOLOGY:  By Steve Bass

Steve is a graduate of Fresno State University, who recently retired after teaching in the Bakersfield City School District for 39 years.  His initial Basque connection came 43 years ago when he married his Basque wife, Judy Errea.  His increased interest in Basque history began during a continuing education class 35 years ago on the history of Mexico. At that time he noted that most Basque names he found in his research were identified as "Spaniards," and that set this ongoing project in motion.
