Basque Government Grants to NABO: 2005

Total Requested: 42.000 euros
>Euskara coordinator: $22,109 (refused by BG)
>NABO facilitator: $22,109
>Udaleku (Bakersfield): $4,800
>Officer travel: 2.000 euros

Total Granted: 24.268 euros

First payment received (75% of total): $21,668.29 (Sept. 15, 2005)

Initial distribution of monies:
>NABO Facilitator (combined position): $16,868.29 (awaiting $5240.71)
>Udaleku: $4,800 (fully paid)
>Officer travel: (awaiting remainder)

Final payment received (25% of total) = $7507.18 (Oct. 11, 2006)
Confirmed that this was the final 6.067euros

Proposal for final distribution of the $7507.18:

PART I. 2005 NABO travel expenses: 2000euros (@1.24) = $2,480

I am proposing that we rob Peter to pay Paul; i.e., our costs for the summit/Urbeltz/facilitators in October exceeded the money granted for 2006 which was shaved off by 6%.  If acceptable, we could use a portion of this money just received for last year to cover these expenses.  AGREED?

Remaining costs for Urbeltz tour: $565.38 (receipts available)
Awaiting costs for the hotel/food/van rental for Canada/Mexico delegates
Awaiting costs for the meals for the facilitators

PART II.  2005 Facilitator final payment: $5027.18
The final payment for the facilitator for 2005 was the amount above.  During the course of my work I incurred the following expenses that I suggest be paid from this sum coming to me rather than billing NABO (billing NABO at this time would probably cause a storm because some of these were not previously approved; thus I believe it should be my responsibility to pay for these items myself).

Cinema project: $129.90
> NABO was given a set of Basque films on DVDs.  This entails the purchase of a DVD player that reads European DVDs.  The aim is to make these available to NABO member clubs on a loan basis.

Jolasa/Jokua book shipment:  $739.37

> This was not anticipated.  When asked if NABO could receive a shipment of these books (totaling 216 books) Mary and I said yes without really realizing how expensive the shipping would be.  It comes out to $3.45 a book, but these books are well worth it for what they can potentially convey to future teachers.

Additional costs for the photo exhibit (since previous reimbursement): $222.97
> FYI the braces have now been discarded (they were essentially destroyed being displayed in Denver with winds; the replacement is in the works with our proposed NABO display booth)

Website expenses:  $534
> I have been maintaining two separate websites including euskara.us and basques.us; each to host is $10 a month, coupled with the charges of the domain name which is $27 each
