	2007 World Basque Congress Resolutions 1) Development of stronger ties between Euskadi and the Basque Diaspora. 2) Generate a greater sense of awareness of the global Basque community 3) Promote the internal cohesion and greater efficiency of actions 4) Greater external exposure for Basque communities 5) Participation of women and youth

34.- La DRCV realizará gestiones para el desarrollo de una convocatoria de becas de formación en Euskadi, con las siguientes características:
The DRCV will run Basque Country workshops for:
-Becas de formación en Euskadi, en periodos cortos, para perfeccionamiento en técnicas y conocimiento de materiales para el desarrollo de las actividades de los Centros vascos.
Short-term stays for learning how to further develop Basque club activities
-Becas de formación, para periodos inferiores a dos años, para cursar prioritariamente estudios relacionados con la cultura vasca: euskera, gastronomía, etc.
Long-term stays (2 years) to learn in-depth Euskara, Basque cooking, etc.

37.- Las federaciones y Centros vascos promoverán, en los ámbitos universitarios de su entorno, investigaciones sobre la historia de la emigración vasca, que podrán ser presentadas a las convocatorias del Premio Andrés de Irujo. Para ello, pondrán a disposición de los investigadores y estudiosos los materiales de los que dispongan al respecto.
NABO will promote investigation of Basque immigration that can then be presented for the Irujo prize.

40.- En esta misma línea de actuación, las federaciones y los centros vascos colaborarán con la DRCV para el desarrollo del proyecto “vascos en la prensa americana”, cuya ejecución se inició con el convenio suscrito entre la Secretaria General de Acción exterior, FEVA, Universidad del País Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea y la Universidad del Sur de Bahía Blanca.

42.- Para un mayor conocimiento de la historia de la emigración vasca de primera generación durante el siglo XX, las federaciones y centros vascos promoverán proyectos de recopilación de testimonios orales o escritos de residentes fuera de Euskadi, y de documentos sonoros de las actividades de motivo vasco desarrolladas en su entorno.

45.- Las federaciones y centros vascos deben contemplar la proyección hacia su entorno social como un ámbito prioritario de actuación. A tal fin, la DRCV considerará de especial interés la financiación de los programas de radio que dichas instituciones realicen y la constitución de asociaciones de periodistas interesados en temas vascos.

46.- Las federaciones y centros vascos, entre sus programas de proyección exterior, promoverán en los países que residan, estrategias de presencia en los medios de comunicación social, concediendo premios nacionales o locales a los mejores reportajes periodísticos.

VISIBILITY: Sustain/grow membership

HELBURUA/GOAL. This first aim is expanding the image and perception of Basques beyond perceived limitations; second expanding on existing means of marketing (making "Basqueness" attractive); and third knowing who we are to confidently explain where we are from and where we are going.  All of this together aims to create "raving fans" of Basqueness.
 

BETEZEA/IMPLEMENTATION.   The person[s] who will be responsible for making this happen are:

EGOERA/SITUATION. Membership in our Basque organizations seem to be around 10% of those who proclaim a Basque identity.  All of our member organizations together total: 6,500 members.  While a few clubs are experiencing consistent growth, a good many have seen their membership number decline.  To address these numbers, the following are proposed:

INTERCLUB EVENTS

MISSION STATEMENT: To provide a means and a common goal for more Basque people to meet and associate with those of their own race and culture, as well as learn more about themselves.  Although they enjoy conviviality once they are among those of their own kind, they often must be coaxed to join or attend any of these gatherings.  It is with this in mind that we must make every effort to bring togetherness to our race of people.
