2008 BG GRANT PROPOSAL-For transparency, consideration and input:
Last year we requested funds in eight areas that totaled about 54,000euros, and received approximately 85% of the requested amount.  We have a fairly good track record, and the BG is generally inclined to look favorably at our initiatives that have lined up well with their stated objectives.  What is important is that collectively, we cannot be asking for everything at once.  Below is a projected budget for this area of Basque culture.  It is hoped that you might be able to provide some input.

Right now we are running on a deadline, and our group's draft proposal is due April 30th, before which we hope to have a phone conference together to share our ideas.  Then our finalized group grant request will be forwarded to our finance group for one more go-through, with submission on May 9th to the Basque Government.

There is one problem area here for requests:  it remains limited because there is another department within the Basque Government (besides the one that dispenses these funds for the Basque clubs around the world) that deals specifically with sports and pelota.  Last years request was for 2,350euros and it is unlikely that we can request much beyond this because of the conflict with another department.

BG 2008 Grant Request:  $3,000?

Tentative objectives for this focus group:
> Form focus group (first teleconference by early December) & together select a coordinator that will serve as a moderator and "head coach" for our team
> Initial discussion:  formulating a set of goal(s) for 2008 & how to implement the plan
> If parts of the 2008 plan require requesting Basque Government grant support, this will need to presented to the finance focus group no later than the end of January so NABO can coordinate its 2008 request.

Primary goals of the 2007 World Basque Congress Resolutions
1) Development of stronger ties between Euskadi and the Basque Diaspora.
2) Generate a greater sense of awareness of the global Basque community
3)
Promote the internal cohesion and greater efficiency of actions
4) Greater external exposure for Basque communities
5) Participation of women and youth

NABO will prioritize youth sport activities; BG will assist in the formation of leaders
