It is now
official: 2007 will be Aita Tillous' last year as a full-time
Basque chaplain and it is unlikely that another will be sent to
replace him. He will continue to make a few trips over, but the fact is that Basques who wish to express
their culture through their faith have reach a crucial juncture.
What will happen?
What will be the future role of faith in our Basque events?
These and other issues now confront the Basque Catholic
community. Like elsewhere in the Catholic world, the task
now shifts to the laity to decide how the faith will be made
manifest.
What is needed is
a group of people to step up and take the initiative to form a
committee to explore ways of keeping things going. If
